"A must buy for people with kids..." 2009-12-07
By Candace Beauchamp (Austin, TX)
This is, easily, the most played with toy in our house. We got this a 4 years ago when my kids were 5 and 3. They are now 9 and 6 and we've gone through several sets of dry erase markers and chalk. We've bought extra paper, paints. It's FABULOUS and because it's 2 sides, they both can use it at the same time. One can be drawing in chalk while the other will be drawing with markers. Then we'll decide to paint so we'll don our smocks and they each pick a side to paint on. The price for this is a bargain. It's sturdy, holds up well to 2 kids pushing it around and using it constantly. Honestly, it's the default to "I'm bored". Even now, it never gets old.

The only complaint I have is that the clips started to break after 3 years and we had to buy chip clips out of the grocery store to replace them, but really, they lasted 3 years of daily use.

I work at home and started a home business with my kids before they started school. This is a perfect toy to put in the corner of my office so they can play quietly while I work. If you have kids. This is a MUST buy.

 "Budding artist loves this!" 2009-12-07

Our budding artist loves this! It was easy to assemble and, with the additional paints purchase, has everything our young artist needs. He spends a lot of time drawing and painting at this easel.

bought one for my kids age 9 and 5 last year for Christmas...they love it...for painting their masterpieces! and for practice with school work...my 9 year old will use it to practice math problems and my 5 year old will practice her words and "pretend school"...keeps them busy and learning at the same time!! loved it so much I bought one this Christmas for my friend who has 3 young boys.

"This is very good easel..." 2009-12-01
By G.C. (Wayne, NJ USA)
...but not perfect. We got it for our 5 y/old daughter and she is very happy with it. It was easy to put it together, but unfortunately, one leg broke next day. Now, I don't know if that's because our daughter tried to move it and when she wasn't able to pick it up she dragged it (on the carpet), but regardless it should handle at least a little bit of pushing/dragging around. We returned the broken leg in local toy store (where we purchased it) and they ordered us a replacement (it took a while for it to come). This was the only major problem we had with this easel. She is using it every day and we are happy with it. As other reviewers noted, the chalkboard is not that great but it works and is easy to clean. On the white board, I would suggest using expo dry-erase markers, or some wet-erase markers, but even if you have some marks you can use EXPO cleaning water and it will clean everything to perfection.

This product could have improvements of course (legs especially: they should have angled ending so they fit on the floor straight!). It not a `toy' per se and should be handled with care (one more opportunity to teach kids to respect their things), but overall, we are happy with it.

"Fun, but needs a little sanding." 2009-11-29
By Clark Griswold (Rochester, NY)
This is a good easel for the price. The nice thing about it is it has 2 sides. That way 2 kids can use it at the same time. If it was only one sided we would have constant fights over who was going to use it. The kids love it and use it all the time. In the picture, it seems a little flimsy but it's actually pretty sturdy once finally assembled. As for the assembly it took a while. Directions are OK but it is one of those things that isn't "some assembly required", but "complete assembly required". I would also highly recommend that you sand the wood pieces throughly. The edges and corners are very sharp and could easily scratch a child's hand.

My wishlist for this thing is that the boards were magnetic, as the little clips have only limited use. We resort to taping coloring book pages to the thing because the clips are quite useless on small pieces of paper. Also, we have found that dry erase markers don't come off in the wash so watch out.
