These are just adorable. I love the little crates, and it does help to keep everything organized. I just wish that they had a replacement policy for a single item. We lost the stick of butter at a hotel. It was unknowingly packed. The designs on the food are appropriate, and creative. They are just the right size. These are made in china, which I thought Melissa and Doug did Mfg in the US, BUT these are well made. I would have rather had them made in the US, but they seem just fine.

I got this Melissa and Doug wooden food groups set for my 20 month old. When it got here I was surprised how many foods came with the set, as well as the quality of the product. My daughter just loves them, and plays with them daily. She likes to pretend eat or drink them and goes over the names of the foods. I'm still trying to show her how the foods fit in the different groups. The wooden bins are just as durable as the foods. I would highly recommend this to anyone out there looking for an educational, fun food play set. Melissa and Doug wooden toys are durable, and very cute.

Just got it today and am unimpressed with how small and obviously fake the play food is. The pieces are unrealistically small. Doesn't come close to the other food that Melissa & Doug makes. Pretty disappointed. The fish is so small that I think it should have been thrown back into the river.

Both my kids love this! Even my one year old managed to figure this toy out from watching how it was done. They sit and cut the different foods as fast as I can put them back together for them! lol Great for teaching different foods, as well as a safe way to start teaching knife and food prep skills for when they get older. The sounds and effects from the velcro are more realistic than I was expecting. Also comes with a very sturdy wooden basket that is so handy for keeping everything together. the only negative thing I have found is that the paint seems to come off relatively easily, but I expect that this is combination of using less toxic chemical paints and my kids playing with it so much. Overall, I am very pleased. Would totally recommend it to anyone with little toddlers or preschoolers!

My girls (aged 2, 3, and 4) received this toy for Christmas last year. They loved playing with it, and did learn to cut the toys right away. But, they played with the pieces in a bowl of water in their toy kitchen. The pieces didn't even last a few days before the paint started chipping off. I've seen this problem with several other Melissa and Doug toys, including other food crate toys and lacing beads. My 2-year-old daughter loves this set. She uses the knife to cut the pieces apart easily now that she's figured it out and spends a lot of time doing so. A couple of the food items could be a little more easily recognizable (carrot and zucchini/cucumber), but that doesn't seem to bother my daughter. She calls it whatever we call it.

This is a fantastic toy for 2 year olds and up! The wooden pieces hold together with durable velcro which makes a simulated cutting sound when you saw through...Cool! Great teaching opportunity too! Learn halves, fourths etc. Even the older kids and adults can't resist the impulse to play with this toy! Love it!
