Everything I have from M&D is sub-par quality. Things break, paint chips really bad, and the stuff is not durable. Cheaply made in China. I always though it was a great brand, but now that I have a child and see it day in day out, I am disappointed. Plan Toys makes FAR better more durable stuff, and has far less safety issues with heavy metals than M&D.

The Melissa & Doug Deluxe Wooden Cutting Fruit Crate is an awesome toy. I will say that it took some time before my niece figured out how to put all the pieces back together by herself but she is two years old, so "officially" she is still a lit young for this toy. She loves this set and plays with it often.

My two year old loves this toy. Plays with it everyday in her kitchen grandpa made her for
christmas. I just wish the velcro was a little stronger and the paint didn't chip. I guess that's what you get...Melissa and doug is the only wooden toy out there right now for a decent price.
Anyway, loads of fun for a toddler!!

I wish I had known how much fun my kids would have "cutting" food, I would have purchased more sets like this. They play with this toy several times a week, they love to put all the cut up fruit in a bowl and have fruit salad. I have not had problems with the velcro or fruit not lining up as others have posted. We love this set!

This is a great set! It's also a good way to show very young children how to make matches. I often sit with my daughter and have her match up the pieces of fruit. The colors are vibrant and is a very good learning tool for not only colors but identifying fruits.
